Fools Banquet, ‘Are You Happy Now’, Blue Banket and the Grammy’s!

I can drop dead now. This years Fools Banquet had Stephen Kellogg AND Jason Mraz among other great artists. Fools Banquet is basically this annual song writing retreat that Hanson hold in their home studio where different musicians come and write music together. Hanson, Stephen Kellogg, Jason Mraz… it really doesn’t get any better than that at this point of time for me. A-ha! Actually I cannot drop dead just yet. I have to hear the new music and then I can drop dead.

So anyway. I finally reached home, only to be greeted by cold cold weather. My empty house was freezing! I tried sleeping in the morning but the bed was so cold that even though I was curled up I couldn’t manage to keep myself warm. It’s nice, though, to be able to spend the whole day under the quilt without having a worry in the world. Of course there is tons to worry about, but all that can be kept at hold for a while. It’s just my first day at home, I can be empty brained.

I don’t really feel like doing much these days, anyway. I was thinking that today’s world is too fast paced and there is way too much happening to actually be able to correctly judge what you’re feeling at any point of time. At any point of time, you’re happy, sad, angry, frustrated… everything. If you ask someone how they are feeling, I don’t think they themselves will know. Ask me I’m happy and I’ll say, “Well, I guess… I’m okay”. Ask me if somethings wrong and I’ll say, “Well… kinda I guess”. There is little reality behind our emotions now. It’s all just mix and match and hold on to whatever you can. I wish I could just sit back and feel. Good. Bad. Ugly. Whatever. One at a time.

I’m sitting draped in this comfy blue thingamajing. I don’t know what to call it. For the next two weeks I will be seen sitting in one corner wrapped up in this blue cover, wearing headphones and sitting on my laptop.

Those side tables you see, my mom took the carpenter to the Next shop and showed him what to make and she got them made. I was fascinated for quite a bit in the morning because there were stones inside our side tables. Which are just placed inside like that. I thought maybe they were stuck. So if those tables ever fall sideways or upside down… the glass is sure to break! And you can see my comfy, soft, shiny cover which I’m wrapped in right now. It feels like a little puppy.

I was going to post a whole bunch of exam time pictures… pre-exam all night study sessions to post-exam all night partying… but I figured I should post that in a new post all my itself.

So I spent my first day at home today. Mostly under my parents quilt. I tried watching TV in the evening. Ended up watching the Grand Finale of American Inventor. Just before leaving in October, I saw the very first episode. So I have seen only the first and last episodes of the show and I think it captured pretty much all of it. There really is nothing much to see on TV anyway. I am thrilled they’ve started showing Malcolm in the Middle everyday now.

It’s Grammy night today… or rather tomorrow morning here. So I’ll do my bit and predict the winners… or rather my preferences… and tomorrow we shall crosscheck ;)

Record Of The Year

Irreplaceable – Beyoncé
The Pretender – Foo Fighters
Umbrella – Rihanna Featuring Jay-Z
What Goes Around…Comes Around – Justin Timberlake
Rehab – Amy Winehouse

I don’t know what to say. Have to say it’s the worst Grammy’s ever :P I would like Foo Fighters to win, but knowing the shitty music scene of today, I won’t be surprised if Beyonce or Rihanna wins.

Album Of The Year

Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace – Foo Fighters
These Days - Vince Gill
River: The Joni Letters – Herbie Hancock
Graduation - Kanye West
Back To Black – Amy Winehouse

Herbie Hancock? I’m so scared Kanye West will this… eek!

Song Of The Year

Before He Cheats – Josh Kear & Chris Tompkins, songwriters (Carrie Underwood)
Hey There Delilah – Tom Higgenson, songwriter (Plain White T’s)
Like A Star – Corinne Bailey Rae, songwriter (Corinne Bailey Rae)
Rehab - Amy Winehouse, songwriter (Amy Winehouse)
Umbrella – Shawn Carter, Kuk Harrell, Terius “Dream” Nash & Christopher Stewart, songwriters (Rihanna Featuring Jay-Z)

I like this one :) I heard the song Hey There Delilah the other day and loved it!!! So I’m rooting for that one… or maybe even Corinne Bailey Rae! Shoot me if Rihanna wins.

I’m going to skip the best female one and best new artist because I couldn’t care less…

Best Male Pop Vocal Performance

Everything – Michael Bublé
Belief – John Mayer
Dance Tonight – Paul McCartney
Amazing – Seal
What Goes Around…Comes Around – Justin Timberlake

I’m loving this. John Mayer aalllll the way :D But I wouldn’t feel as bad if anyone else wins either. Anyone else except that dirty Tingaling, that is.

Best Pop Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocals

(You Want To) Make A Memory – Bon Jovi
Home – Daughtry
Makes Me Wonder - Maroon 5
Hey There Delilah - Plain White T’s
Window In The Skies – U2

La di da… I feel bad that the only song I’ve heard out of these is Hey There Delilah… while they’re the only band I’ve never heard of. I’m pretty sure U2 is taking home this one, just because they are U2.

Ben Harper is nominated for Best Pop Instrumental album.

I’m just really tired right now otherwise I love sitting and doing this whole prediction thing. It’s too late now anyway… the show is barely 6 hours away. I am hoping Hanson are going to make an appearance since they have been all over Pre-Grammy radio shows. I would also like to add here that I learnt today from Taylor that Zac is the youngest songwriter ever to be nominated for a Grammy! Woo-hoo!

I’m waiting to see the show tomorrow. The 50th Grammy Awards. I hope there are fantabulous performances I can fall in love with and lovely surprises in store! 6:25am alarm shall be set for tomorrow… :)

My brain and body are begging me to go to sleep. Now that I am home, I will write everyday. I need to have something constructive to do otherwise I will just…
