Date A Man Who Reads

After reading the Date A Girl Who Reads thing, I couldn’t help but write this! So here goes, completely and totally based on the aforementioned piece!

Date a man who reads. Date a man who spends his free time roaming aisles of a bookstore. And couldn’t think of a better place to be. Date a man with a bookshelf in his room.

Find a man who reads. You’ll know he loves to read when you see him pacing up and down aisles of a bookstore making a mental list of books to read. Beaming when he finds just the book he’s been looking for. He’s the one sitting in the train with changing expressions with progressing pages. Try quoting a few incorrect lines of Wordsworth and he instantly knows that you’re making it up.

He understands the complexities of a characters and the fragility of female emotion. He knows how to provide comfort to an aching soul and how to bring out that almost scary uninhibited laughter. He understands that being a hero is more than just saving the day. That to be a super hero you do not need to wear your underwear over your pants, but you need to make a woman feel like a super hero, too.

Date a man who reads and you’ll never run out of conversation. He gets excited seeing a reference to the Odyssey and stays awake with you all night just to tell you the story. A man who reads always has stories to tell. His world is colourful and he does everything to share that with you. He has depth and knowledge and a mind full of read wisdom.

It’s easy to date a man who reads. Take him on a date to a bookstore and watch him as he gets lost in wonderment. Surprise him with a book and he’ll give you the sweetest, most joyous, childlike thank you look. And you’ve know you’ve made his day.

Date a man who reads because when you’re lost in the world of your book, he wants to dive in too.  When you’re talking endlessly about the characters and what they did, he feels the same intensity. He doesn’t want to interrupt you you’re spending that lovely Sunday afternoon immersed in a book.

You’ll spend endless hours together discussing the bookshelf you’ll want in your room for the library both of you plan to have in your new house. With alternating expressions of delight as the other comes with a great idea. And not realise that the light has already begun its journey in to the day.

Date a man who reads because he knows how to listen.

More so, date a man who reads because he understands the girl who reads.

Ok well, this may not be entirely agreeable or as sweet as the original, but it is inspired by a man who reads and I can whole heartedly vouch for the fact that it is the most satisfying feeling when you’re both coming out of the bookstore  together with gleaming eyes and hands full of new books. And you feel the others joy.
