Trip, Devil Angel and Durga Puja!

Hmm… I’m back from my lovely vacation in Chamba, Uttaranchal, most of which I spent sleeping in the soft, comfy hotel bed. Still, it was fun. I tried being really artsy and took about 200+ pictures of mountains, trees, flowers and clouds. As you would expect, most of them turned out crappy. Oh and we got stuck in an ice-storm. Well, it wasn’t exactly an “ice-storm” but it makes it sounds fancy. Basically it was POURING oley and we were in the narrow windy hill roads with zero visibility and the tires slipping on the ice and you can’t break otherwise the car would skid off the road! My mom thought we were going to die! My dad asked us to unlock the doors so we could jump out incase of an emergency. I was getting excited taking pictures of the ice on the roads which looked like snow. As you see, I have never seen snow. Sad. This was the closest I had gotten. I didn’t care if I was dying. I needed pictures of the fake snow! All in all it was a really nice and relaxing trip. It was so quiet that at night you could hear nothing but the buzzing inside your own head. And I really didn’t realise how loud the buzzing inside my head is!! Oh and I have never seen such a spectacular view of the Himalayas before this!

You see all that while is ice! Even on that roof… it’s all olay. Looks nice snow na?

There is some really loud bhajjan thing going out outside my house and they are singing some bhajjan about “Rukhmani” 😀

So anyway. Today I went to meet Mali at work. Ha! I love the idea of going to meet a friend in office. It sounds so grown up and far away. Sad that it’s reality now. Funny at the same time. And Mali doesn’t work in any office. She works for Google! They have so much free food over there I don’t know how I can NOT work for that company ever. Apart from the fact that it’s Google. Thanks for the muffin, Mali 🙂

Let me tell you more about my friend Mali. Malavika Bhattacharya. She was part of a secret D&M company in the 5th standard. Well, I don’t know if it was secret or not. I was graced with her presence(is that correct English?) in my life only in class 7, I think. Here was this girl who listened to the music as I did. Watched the same movies as I did. Was such a quiet, soft spoken girl. A super brain. Was as addicted to the net at that age. So anyway, Mali taught me alot in life. At the tender age of 14 she got me hooked to gay porn. Ok well, not exactly, but gay fan-fiction. Fan-fiction is basically imaginary stories that you make involving celebrities or like famous characters or whatever. So Mali somehow manages to find this very interesting gay story about Taylor Hanson(my favourite) and Scott Moffatt(her favourite). Good combo, huh? Both our favourite musicians falling in love with each other in secret.. It was a very descriptive story and, I must say, I learnt alot of what I know now, through Devil Angel. It wasn’t a shallow piece of fiction. It was a mystery story. Someone was taking pictures of Scott and Taylor kissing and no one knew who. I think the author stopped the story before she revealed who was taking the pictures. Zac Hanson and Bob Moffatt find out that they’re brothers are romantically involved, they also decided to ‘try it out’ or whatever. So it was like double action! Wow! Devil Angel is a well known fanfic in the Hanson world with awards such as Best Sex Scene to its credit. Whatever. Thanks Mali for introducing me to one of the most… interesting… exciting… whatever… pieces of fiction I have read till date.

Apart from all that Mali was also my partner in rhyme. Oh that fateful day in class 8 when we decided to try our hand at poetry. Btw, incase you’re wondering, I still have ALL our poems except that Justin Timberlake one, which I still think was one of the best we ever wrote. So Mali and I started rhyming. Writing poems on all our favourite teen celebs. Hanson, Moffatts, JTT, Brad Renfro, Devon Sawa blah blah. Masterpieces 😉 “Devon is heaven, Scott is so hot”. I think you get the jist. Mali the Great can be credited with coining the terms such as Moffson-Hanatt. We were also regulars at teencelebsplus.com and used to religiously vote for one of the Hansons or Moffatts to be in the top 10 hottest teen celebrities. Mind you, Taylor was number 1 most of the times 😉 And we used to take pangas with all those stupid Justin Timberlake fans. Hehe 🙂 It was a crazy time. Was so much fun, though. I want to go back to those stupid teenie crazy days of having to worry about writing a mean Backstreet Boy poem for the next day to show Caelisa. Or something as ridiculous. Too bad we grew up.

Hmm… it’s Durga Puja time. I’m a terrible Bengali. I hate going for Durga Puja because it’s terribly boring. I don’t like crowds. I don’t really believe in God. I don’t like the bhog. I know it’s something I should do as part of tradition. Maybe later. When I’m older. My moms hoping I get married into a typical Bengali family where I will HAVE to do all these things. If I have to I will. But now, I don’t want to. It’s been more than 4 years since I went to a Puja pandal. Only because I’ve always been in Mumbai during this time. It’s not that age anymore when Durga Puja meant new clothes and chicken rolls and plays and dances and painting competitions and late nights and family and friends. Maybe if I was still living in GK I might have gone. I don’t know why I refuse to step out in Gurgaon. It doesn’t feel homely enough for me. Gurgaon is my holiday home and I like sleeping and watching TV while I’m on holiday. I’m a lazy, useless bum!
